Friendly Friesian
I was out measuring a job yesterday and this beautiful Friesian decided to check me out. He was curious about my tape measure, my cell phone, and then put his head on my shoulder. As I was leaving, his owner told him to say goodbye and he lifted his right front leg and pawed the air. I love the barn business!

MdBarnmaster Makes Workshops!?
MdBarnmaster, known for decades as the premier supplier of equine structures, also makes buildings ideal for small backyard workshops. The fire resistant quality of an all steel structure provides a safer work space for woodworking, painting or any hobby projects. The modular design allows for almost any configuration. The workshop pictured was actually configured using the existing roofing materials of a 36' x 16' covered horse corral. 5/16" rolled reflective Astro-Foil was used to line the underneath side of the roofing providing additional insulation. A large 8' wide sliding door was provided for ease of moving wood materials in and out. To weatherproof the structure, poly closed cell foam was applied between all wall modules, Dow 795 silicon sealant applied at all joints, and brush weatherstrip sweeps at the sliding door. The result is the perfect workshop!

Fire Resistant modular steel barn |
In 2002-2005, U.S. municipal fire departments responded to an estimated average of 1,090 barn
structure fires, annually. These fires resulted in an annual average of 2 civilian deaths, 10 civilian
injuries, and $32.4 million in direct property damage. These estimates are based on data from the
U.S. Fire Administration’s (USFA) National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and the
National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) annual fire department experience survey.By Associated Press, Published: May 31, 2011

We can talk about all the advantages of modular steel barns from crib proof, chew proof, kick proof, and being sanitary but the most valuable feature is its fire resistant quality with the use of non-combustible materials on all exposed surfaces.

Cribbing and Your Barn
Have you ever observed your horse repeatedly nod up and down, paw at the stall floor, or pull on a piece of wood from its stall? Cribbing is an Equine OCD behavior of horses that can be quite expensive; stalls must be repaired and can lead to intestinal problems with the horse. Along with proper diet, exercise, or just spending time with your horse, providing a stall environment that eliminates the ability for your horse to crib is extremely helpful. MdBarnmaster barns' all steel galvanized stall interiors provide a chew proof and crib proof environment. Your next step is to address your horse's nervous behavior.
Pictured is an all steel galvanized MdBarnmaster stall. The ultimate in safety for your horse...sanitary, crib proof, chew proof, kick proof, and fire resistant.

Equine Herpes Virus and Your Barn
Please exercise caution when isolating your horse from the Equine Herpes Virus. Make sure your stalls are disinfected thoroughly.
According to Dr. Larry Bauman, Equine Veterinarian, "Generic disinfectants such as bleach, chlorhexidine, quaternary ammonias and others are effective in killing the EHV-1 virus." This is great advice, but your barn stalls need to be constructed of a surface that can be easily disinfected.
MdBarnmaster barns are the perfect horse housing environment to help reduce the spread of disease. The modular galvanized steel construction allows you to power wash and thoroughly disinfect every stall repeatedly and the galvanized steel does not allow disease carrying germs to penetrate the stall walls.
Pictured is the interior of an MdBarnmaster stall. Note the smooth galvanized steel surface. Germs can be easily be eliminated using recommended solutions.

A Healthy Barn Idea!
There are as many barn designs and opinions of barn designs as there are horse owners. Most veterinarians recommend maximum airflow to ensure a healthy space for your horse. The barn that is pictured is a Barnmaster Ranch series shedrow barn. With two fully enclosed 12 x 12 stalls it also has a 36 x 12 covered area opened to the rear of the barn. Of course, a convenient 12 x 12 tack room and a 12 x 12 hay storage area makes this barn extremely functional. As you can see, this barn allows for maximum airflow yet provides space for protection from the harshest elements for your horse. All MdBarnmaster barns are designed with maximum airflow and the health of your horses in mind.

Lofty Idea!
Just finished up a 12 ft X 36 ft loft and stairs making this clear span building even more useful. 2 1/2" X 6" steel purlins @ 24" O.C. make up the superstructure and 3/4" plywood is used for the deck. Another extremely satisfied customer. Now heading up to the same customer's vacation home in Big Bear to work up a design for a new garage.
